Terms of service.
Studio’s:
We operate two separate pottery studios.
Our sister studio is a Paint Your Own Pottery (PYOP) where you can purchase blank pottery items and decorate them however you like.
Our studio focuses on pottery classes, workshops, longer courses, and studio rentals. These two businesses are run independently, so enquiries will be directed accordingly.
If your enquiry relates to painting pottery or using a voucher purchased from the PYOP studio, please contact them directly [insert contact link or info here]. Their opening hours differ from ours, so be sure to check their schedule on their website.
Please note:
Vouchers purchased through their website are not valid for use at our studio. If you're unsure which voucher you need, we recommend contacting the appropriate studio before purchasing.
Booking:
All lessons must be scheduled and paid for in advance through our online booking system, available in the ‘Book Now’ section of our website. Please do not bring additional attendees without notifying us in advance.
If you’re unable to attend your scheduled lesson, please contact us via email or phone as soon as possible. We’ll be happy to reschedule your class or arrange a refund. Please see our reschedule and refund terms below.
Please note: We operate a fully cashless system. All payments must be made using approved digital payment methods.
Vouchers:
All vouchers issued have a 12-month expiry date from the date of purchase. Please ensure you or the person you’re gifting the voucher to contacts us within that timeframe, as we are unable to accept expired vouchers. If you’re having trouble redeeming your voucher online, simply email us with the details and we’ll be happy to assist you with booking.
Voucher Use:
If you're using a voucher to book for more than one person, please note that you'll need to make separate bookings for each attendee using the same code.
Our system doesn’t automatically apply a voucher’s value across multiple participants in a single transaction. Instead, the voucher is tied to a set monetary value, and once that value has been fully redeemed - whether in one booking or across several - the code will no longer be valid.
If you're unsure how to proceed or need help making multiple bookings, feel free to reach out and we'll be happy to assist.
Voucher Refunds:
Vouchers are non refundable.
Class & Workshop Reschedules & Refunds:
If you need to cancel or reschedule a class or workshop, we’re happy to help - as long as you contact us with sufficient notice.
We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds or reschedule bookings with less than 48 hours’ notice, including in cases of illness or emergency. When booking, please be aware that this is a risk you accept.
As a small business, we’re unable to accommodate last-minute changes without it impacting the sustainability of our services.
To cancel or rearrange your session, please email us at admin@thecraftpotterystudio.com.
Please do not call, as our team handles all booking changes via email.
Class & Workshop Minimum Attendees Requirement:
Please note that all classes, workshops, and courses are subject to a minimum attendee requirement. If this requirement is not met, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the session.
We typically make this decision no later than 72 hours in advance. If a session is cancelled, participants will be given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
We truly value your interest and support in our educational offerings and are committed to creating an engaging and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
Your help in spreading the word about our classes is greatly appreciated-it goes a long way in helping us meet minimum numbers and keep our sessions running smoothly.
Course Reschedules & Refunds:
If you need to cancel or reschedule the entire course: We require a minimum of 7 days’ notice to offer a reschedule or a full refund.
Please do not call to cancel - all course cancellation requests must be submitted via email to admin@thecraftpotterystudio.com.
We kindly ask for your understanding that this policy is non-negotiable. It’s not a reflection of our willingness to accommodate you, but rather a necessary measure to maintain the integrity and viability of one of our most in-demand offerings.
If you need to cancel or reschedule singular session(s): If you’re unable to attend a session during your course, please do not inform your tutor during class. All attendance matters must be communicated in advance by emailing our admin team at admin@thecraftpotterystudio.com.
Missing Multiple Sessions: If you anticipate missing multiple dates after the course has begun, please note that we cannot transfer your booking to another course at a later time. Our courses are in high demand, and each booking secures a full five-week experience - rescheduling would mean another customer loses that opportunity later down the line. To avoid this, we ask that you reach out at least one week in advance if you are unable to attend multiple upcoming sessions.
Missing a Single Session: If you miss a single session, we cannot guarantee a make-up session or alternative date. In rare cases - and only if space allows - we may be able to offer a spot in a matching session on another course running alongside yours. However, this is not always possible, and you may need to forfeit that particular week. If you do fall behind due to a missed class, our tutors will make every effort to help you catch up during your remaining sessions, though this cannot be guaranteed.
Commitment to the Course: To get the most out of your learning experience and maintain the quality of the course for everyone involved, we strongly encourage you to commit to all scheduled dates at the time of booking.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation - we’re excited to welcome you into our studio community!
Course Minimum Attendees Requirement:
Please note that all of our courses are subject to a minimum number of participants. If this requirement is not met, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the course.
We typically make this decision no later than two weeks before the course start date. In the event of a cancellation, all participants will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
We truly value your interest and support in our educational programs and are committed to providing a dynamic, engaging experience for all attendees.
Your help in spreading the word about our courses is greatly appreciated - it plays a big role in helping us meet the minimum attendance and ensuring each course can go ahead as planned.
Course Schedules:
We release new course dates every 2–3 months. You can find the date of our next course release displayed prominently at the top of our homepage or receive information by signing up to our newsletter.
Our courses are among the most popular experiences at The Craft and often book up 3–6 months in advance. To avoid disappointment, we recommend booking as soon as new dates are released.
If you hold a pre-existing course voucher and find that your preferred date is fully booked, please get in touch with us. We reserve two spots per course specifically for voucher holders to help ensure you secure a place.
Want to join our waiting list for courses? You can do so here.
Lateness:
Please arrive on time, or let us know if you are going to be late. If you arrive late within a 20 minute time frame, you may partake in the class however it will still need to finish within the allocated time-slot. If you arrive out-with 30 minutes, we can no longer host your session.
Pottery Collection:
All pottery pieces must be collected in person from Studio 102A.
Your pieces will be ready within 3-4 weeks of your lesson. We’ll notify you via the phone number provided at booking when your items are available for collection. If you do not hear from us, it may be that the number we have contacted you on is incorrect, either on your end our ours. Please just reach out to us: admin@thecraftpotterystudio.com.
From the date of our first collection notice, you have 8 weeks to pick up your pieces. After this period, we will send a final reminder, allowing an additional 2 weeks for collection.
If items remain uncollected after 10 weeks and we do not hear from you, they will be donated, as we unfortunately do not have the storage capacity to keep forgotten pottery.
Posting Pots:
Please note, we never post pots. We do not post pottery pieces due to the risk of damage or loss in transit. If you are unable to collect your items personally, we recommend arranging for a friend or family member to pick them up on your behalf.
Quality Control:
Pottery is a challenging and delicate craft. While we take every care to ensure your pieces safely pass through our kilns, we cannot guarantee they will survive perfectly. Common issues such as chips, cracks, bubbles, inconsistent glazing, warping, and even explosions can occur - these are normal parts of the process and often out-with our tutor or technician control. Our tutors work hard to minimise these risks and maintain a high success rate, but imperfections are very common and should be expected.
Pieces can also collapse on the wheel if pushed too far - please follow your tutor’s instructions carefully to avoid this.
Please also note that while we strive for consistency, glaze colours and surface textures may vary slightly from piece to piece. We use a white stoneware clay for all classes, but variations in clay supply may cause subtle differences in glaze appearance. Additionally, we cannot glaze the underside of any pot, as this would cause it to stick to the kiln during firing. To prevent this, we leave a 1–4 cm gap at the base when dipping pots in glaze - a standard practice in ceramics.
For coursework participants, it’s important to understand that not following your tutor’s instructions may result in over-glazed, under-glazed, or broken pieces. Following guidance helps ensure the best possible outcome.
Parental/Chaperone Attendance:
While parental or chaperone attendance is not required, you’re welcome to stay for the duration of your child’s class if you wish.
We kindly ask that only one parent or chaperone per child attends to help maintain a calm and focused environment.
Tutor/Customer Allergies:
For the safety of our team members, we kindly ask that no products containing nuts are brought into the studio. A member of our staff has a severe nut allergy and must avoid any contact.
If we suspect that nuts are being consumed on the premises, we may ask you to remove them and will need to disinfect any affected areas.
If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please don’t hesitate to email us.
If you have any allergies or specific requirements that should be communicated to your tutor or fellow participants, please email us promptly. We will do our best to accommodate your needs and ensure a comfortable experience.
Inclusivity & Respect:
The Craft Pottery Studio is committed to creating an inclusive and respectful environment for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or any other characteristic. We expect all participants to treat others with respect and kindness, use inclusive language and behaviour and respect different perspectives and experiences.
We prohibit the use of hate speech, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and intimidation and the use of slurs or derogatory remarks.
Please report violations to management via admin@thecraftpotterystudio.com. Violations may result in warnings, removal from classes, suspension, or termination of membership.
By using our services, you agree to abide by this policy, helping us maintain a positive and respectful community.
Accessibility:
You can read further details regarding accessibility here.
Our studios are located on the first floor of an old warehouse building. While there is a lift, it is currently out of operation, so access is only available via stairs at this time.
We are actively working towards making our space fully wheelchair accessible in the near future and appreciate your understanding as we pursue these improvements.
If you require wheelchair-accessible facilities immediately, we recommend visiting our sister studio for pottery painting, which is conveniently located on the ground floor.
Pets:
While we absolutely love furry friends, our studio environment isn’t suitable for them. Please do not bring pets into the studio without prior approval.
Due to health and safety concerns - including hot and hazardous equipment, delicate customer work, and potential allergies among our tutors, staff, and visitors - we kindly ask that pets remain outside the studio.
Thank you for understanding and helping us keep the space safe and comfortable for everyone.
Age Requirement and Restrictions:
All of our services list the suitable age range within the title and/or description. These age restrictions are set in accordance to the level and complexity of the session, in addition to potential equipment use restraints. Please do not bring children to experiences listed ages 14+. On occassions and under certain circumstances, we can work with you to accommodate children slightly younger than this, but we request that you always reach out first.
Our family friendly experiences are suitable for children and also specify an age range.
Our ‘BYOB’ experiences are always listed as being suitable for ages 18+ due to the potential presence and consumption of alcohol within the session.
